The Transylvanian parliament was called by the principal. There is one chamber of the meeting, the participants are: the members of the council of the principal and those of the principal's board of justice, the representatives of the authorities and towns and lords invited with a letter of invitation from the principal (regalis), who were called regalists. The number of the invited regalists depended on the principal, the chief officers of the Hungarian and Saxon authorities also belonged to this group. From among the prelates of the different churches the Calvinist and Lutheran bishops were also usually invited. There were two official meetings a year between 1580 and 1622, then there was only one supplemented by some extraordinary meetings, according to needs. The majority of meetings were held in Torda, Gyulafehérvár and Kolozsvár.
