Ferenc Nádasdy 4
Anna Julianna Esterházy, the wife of Ferenc Nádasdy
The painter, who was born in Lübeck, left for an Italian study trip in 1655. On his way there he met Ferenc Nádasdy in Vienna, who invited him to work in Hungary. He painted the full-figure portraits of Nádasdy and his wife Anna Julianna Esterházy, as well as those of Pál Esterházy and his wife Orsolya Esterházy. He also painted altarpieces in Győr and Loretom, before he moved on to Italy in 1659. In 1665 he returned to Germany. He went to work in Vienna again for a short time around 1684, during which time he portrayed Ádám Zichy and his wife Terézia Jakusich (Vöröskő/Červený Kameň, Slovakia, Museum).
