Angel playing the organ
Most Hungarian historical sources make reference to the organ, the regal (Latin: conveyable small organ) the clavichord and the virginal (Latin: particular type of piano used in the 16-17th centuries). Data on keyboard instruments refer to a great variety of organs: large church organs just like the smaller conveyable organ the regal. Virginal was a general term. It referred to any harpsichord-type of instrument, regardless of its musical characteristics or appearance. The terms " virginist" and organist - which referred to musicians playing on keyboard instrument - also had a wider, general meaning. Despite their title, these musicians could play all kinds of keyboard instruments.
