He was the youngest child of Wladislas(II) Jagello, the Polish king, and Princess of Holszany, Zsofia. He was born on 29 November, 1427. His elder brother, Wladislas III (as Hungarian king), sent him to Lithuania, where he became a chief prince. After the battle of Várna he was selected Polish king, but - assuming that his brother would return - he occupied the throne only in 1447. In 1454 he married Elisabeth the daughter of Albert I, the Hungarian king. They had 13 children, including Wladislas II, (later the Czech and Hungarian king), Prince Saint Casimir, John Albert, Alexander and Sigismund, (later the Polish king). He died on 7 June, 1492.

Wladislas (Ulászló) II

He was born on 1 March, 1456, the firstborn son of Casimir (IV) Jagello, the Polish king, and Elisabeth (the Hungarian king, Albert I's daughter). In June, 1469 George Podjebrád made him his heir with the support of the Hussite estates. On 27 May, 1471 the Chalic party and a group of catholics elected him Czech king, and he was crowned on 22 August. On 10 June 1477 emperor Frederick III registered him as a Czech vassal, and gave him the title elector-prince. On 15 July, 1490 he was selected Hungarian king, and was crowned on 18 September. He married the French Anna of Candele in 1502, and they had two children: Anna and Louis. He died on 13 March, 1516 and was buried in Székesfehérvár. Because he was easily influenced, he received the nickname Bene or Dobzse [Latin and Czech respectively for well done] from his contemporaries.

He was born as the second son of the Polish king, Casimir IV and Elisabeth - the Hungarian king, Albert I's daughter - on 3 October, 1457. In 1471 Hungarian noblemen who had rebelled against Matthias invited him to take the Hungarian throne. His campaign failed, however. On 4 March, 1484 he died of a lung desease. He was buried in Vilnius. In 1521 he was canonised, but his canonisation was not completed because Rome was demolished. Finally in 1602 he was canonised, and he became the patron saint of Lithuania.

John Albert (János Albert)

He was born on 27 December, 1459, third son of the Polish king, Casimir IV and Elisabeth -the Hungarian king, Albert I's daughter. After Matthias Hunyadi's death he aspired to mount the Hungarian throne with the help of his father, against the interests of his brother. In June, 1490 he was selected Hungarian king by common noblemen. In September he took the fortresses of Sáros, Eperjes and Kisszeben, but his siege of Kassa was without success. On 20 February, 1491, near Kassa, he abdicated in favour of his brother, and received an estate in Silesia in return. In the autumn of 1491 he marched to Hungary with an army, but Stephen Szapolyai and captain Haugwitz defeated him on 24 December near Eperjes. After his father's death, on 27 August, 1492 he was elected Polish king. He did not have a wife, so had no known legitamate children. He died during a crusade against the German Order of Knighthood on 17 June, 1501.
