preacher (in Latin praedicare, to preach)

Hungarian Calvinist minister
The old fashioned title for Protestant ministers. Teachings of the Protestant Church refuse to recognise the holiness of the orders according to which Protestant ministers are not what Catholics would call priest but rather the church leaders of congregations with theological qualifications, the most important duties of whom is the preaching of God's Gospel. Protestant preachers played a rather significant role in the proliferation of academic Hungarian through their written religious disputes and Bible translations.
