manufacture

Cloth maker
It comes from Latin, manu facere, that is to do something with your hands. It refers to a smaller factory in which work tools are in the possession of the owner of the factory, and the workers are wage-workers. Besides these it is different from guild, because one worker performs one specific task during production, that is in contrast with guilds, the product is the result of the activities of individual workers. In Hungary manufactures spread in the 18th century - after some experiments at the end of the 17th century. They were family manufactures of landlords and the Habsburgs, but they were much less developed than those in western Europe.
