He was born on 10 March, 1503, son of Philip (I) the Beautiful of Castilia and Johanna (the Mad) of Aragonia. After his grandfather, Emperor Maximilian's death in 1521 he inherited part of the provinces in Inner- and Lower Austria, as had been set out in the treaty of Worms, and then in 1522 according to the treaty of Brussels, he inherited all the Austrian provinces. After Louis II's death - in accordance with the Habsburg-Jagello treaty he became the Czech king on 22 October, 1526, and Hungarian king on 17 December. The Czech coronation ceremony was held on 24 February, 1527, and the Hungarian one on 3 November. On 5 January, 1531 he was elected German king. After the resignation of his elder brother, Charles V, he was crowned Emperor on 24 March, 1558. His wife was Anna, the daughter of the Hungarian king, Wladislas II from 1521. He died on 25 July, 1564.

Maria

She was born on 17 September, 1505, the daughter of the Castilian king, Philip (I) the Beautiful and Johanna (the Mad) of Aragonia. Her two brothers, Charles V and Ferdinand I later became emperors. In 1506, before the birth of Louis II, she was chosen to be his wife, and this treaty was carried out in 1515. On 11 December, 1521 she was crowned Hungarian queen, and the couple were married on 13 January, 1522. After the defeat at Mohács and her father's death she escaped to Pozsony. Between 1530 and 1556 she governed the German provinces of the Habsburgs. After her retreat she died in Cigales, Spain, on 17 October, 1558.
