SYNOPSIS |
The King of Diamonds is a political farce. A young man awakens to find that, inexplicably, he is being crowned king of a vast empire. There begins a quixotic, fatalistic, humorous and cynical journey though the animal farm of the rise and fall of empires. A textbook example of the playwright using allegory as a thin veil for criticizing his society, the ideas expressed reach beyond the former Iron Curtain.
