Introduction

By issuing the publication entitled External Accounts Statistics, Hungary, the Statistics Department of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank is aiming at informing a wide circle of users. The publication reviews the international methodology and presents the country specific details of the compilation of the balance of payments and the international investment position statistics. The statistical tables contain annual data in a harmonized, time series format. The detailed presentation of the annual international investment position starting from 1997 is a novelty.

With regard to direct investment data, at the end of March 2005 the MNB released a separate publication entitled Foreign Direct Investment, Hungary 1995-2003.
