Preface

We launched the Onomastica Uralica series in 2001 by publishing the selected bibliography of onomastic research on Uralic languages as its first volumes (OU 1a, b. Ed. István Hoffmann. Debrecen-Helsinki). Our goal was to summarize and assess the key findings of the field up to that point. These volumes, along with their online versions, have become important reference books for onomasticians. The selected bibliography of Hungarian onomastics edited by Edit Hlavacska and Valéria Tóth was also published in Vol. 1b of Onomastica Uralica (295-427).

We pointed out when the above-mentioned volume was published that Onomastica Uralica was open to publishing bibliographies of recent research findings of onomastics related to Uralic languages. Since then we have published such bibliographies of several languages, including Finnish, Komi, and Udmurt (OU 5: 119-172), as well as Ob-Ugric languages, Khanti and Mansi (OU 7: 141-166).

In this volume we publish the bibliography of Hungarian onomastics covering the period from 2000 to 2016. The principles and methods of compiling and arranging the bibliography follow the model of former volumes, thus creating a coherent series of bibliographies.

We hope that onomasticians would profit from this book and its online version just as much as from the earlier volumes of the series.
