A modern tánc kialakulása Európában és Magyarországon • The Makers of Modern Dance in Europe and Hungary

A modern tánc új műfaj, születése a testhez való megváltozott viszony, egy újfajta testtudatosság része, és szorosan kapcsolódott a lélek tartományának újra felfedezéséhez, a spiritualitás utáni vágyhoz. Ugyanakkor új önkifejezési formaként az egyéni tánc experimentális korszaka után nem sokkal új tánccsoportok (közösségek) kialakításához, reformpedagógiai (tánc)iskolák létrehozásához vezetett, valamint hozzájárult a színházi nyelv megújulásához és különféle alternatív életformák kialakulásához. Képviseljen bár eltérő életpályát, valamennyi modern táncosnak tisztázni kellett a mozgás és a zene közötti viszonyt, más szóval reflektálni kellett a kor alapvető művészi kérdésére, a tér, az idő és a mozgás problémájára.

Előadásomban részben a fenti szempontok alapján a modern tánc kialakulásában alapvető szerepet játszó Raymond Duncan, Emil Jaques-Dalcroze and Rudolf von Laban munkásságának főbb jellemzőit összegzem a 1920. század fordulójától az 1930-as évekig. Ezt követően a három első iskolateremtő magyar mozdulatművész, Dienes Valéria, Madzsar Alice és Szentpál Olga munkásságát mutatom be. Miközben hangsúlyozom a nemzetközi és a hazai modern tánc kialakulásának egyidejűségét, kitérek a különbségekre is.

The birth of a new genre, namely modern dance, was part of a new consciousness of the body and was closely related to the re-discovered realm of the spirit and the desire for the spritual. It was also a new means of self-expression that after a short period of the experi-mentation years of individual dance led to creating new groups (communities) of dancers, establishing reform (dance) schools and contributed to the renewal of the stage and the emergence of a diversity of alternative life styles.

Modern dancers - though representing different tra-jectories and careers - all faced and had to clarify the relation between movement and music, or, in other words, they all had to reflect on the main artistic problem of their age, the problem of space, time and movement.

In my lecture I try to summarize the main charac-teristics of the work of the makers of modern dance (Raymond Duncan, Emil Jaques-Dalcroze and Rudolf von Laban) from the „fin de siécle" to the 1930s and discuss the work of the pioneers of Hungarian modern dance (Valéria Dienes, Alice Madzsar and Olga Szentpál), who called it the art of movement. While emphasizing their concurrance I will also point out some of the differenc-es between the international and the Hungarian scene.
