Az ezredforduló óta megvalósuló nagymintás (8000 fős) ifjúságkutatási program - amely négyévenként a 15-29 éves korosztály élethelyzetét rögzíti-átfogó képet igyekszik festeni a magyar fiatalokról. A 2016-os adatfelvétel volt az első, amikor az uniós forrásokból finanszírozott kutatás adatbázisa évekig nem volt elérhető. Ezért született meg a Margón Kívül projekt az ifjúságkutatás adatainak autonóm értelmezését Az előadás az adatok alapján felrajzolható oktatási sajátosságokat mutatja be, illetve mélyfúrásként az idegen nyelv ismeretének további társadalmi hátterét rajzolja meg. Az idegen nyelvi tudás egyenlőtlen, szocio-ökonómiai státusz szerinti eloszlását a nyelvtudás-mérések is visz-szaigazolják. Ehhez kapcsolódóan jártunk utána annak, hogy mennyiben határozza meg manapság a fiatalok élethelyzete nyelvtudásuk mértékét. A különböző társadalmi státuszú, eltérő mennyiségű kulturális tőkét birtokló fiatalok hogyan látják saját egzisztenciális esélyeiket, illetve a nyelvtudás szerepét mindebben tartalmazza.

The large-scale (8,000) youth research program has been implemented since 2000. The research draws an every four years record the life situation of the 15-29 year-olds, aims to paint a comprehensive picture of the Hungarian youth.The 2016 survey was the first - funded by EU funds - that was not available for years. That is why the „outside of the margin" project was born: for an autonomous interpretation of youth research data.The lecture presents the educational features of the youth research and the background the knowledge of the foreign language. The distribution of foreign language skills according to unequal socio-economic status is also confirmed by language proficiency measurements. In connection with this, we have followed the extent to which young people today determine their language skills. How do young people see their own existential chances and the role of language skills with different social status, possessing different amounts of cultural capital?
